“But let there be spaces
— Khalil Gibran
in your togetherness
and let the winds of the heavens
dance between you.
Love one another
but make not a bond of love:
let it rather be a moving sea
between the shores of your souls.”
“With all of the bad things
— Marielle Heller
that are happening in the world
right now, I think we need
a message of togetherness and true unity.
I believe that starts
with personal reflection
and then we can find kindness
toward each other.”
“Thanksgiving is a time of
— Nigel Hamilton
togetherness and gratitude.”
This month’s MotM encourages us to find ways to come together in unity while accepting our differences. Even the thinnest thread of connection is better than non at all. Our challenge becomes our willingness to seek that thread, to reach out for that connection. Our common ground may only be at our most basic level of existence: we all need air, water, food, and shelter and we’re all on this one planet called Earth. We can start there.
Some attributes we can strive for are tolerance, acceptance, kindness, an open mind, an open heart, a willingness to listen…all while keeping judgement at bay. Of all of these, the ability to listen, to hear what others are really saying can go a long way because at the core of our troubles, is most liking the frustrated feeling of not being heard.
Alone we can do so little;
— Helen Keller
together we can do so much.”
