This month’s mandala asks us: What’s our cadence? What pace do we keep? Fast? Slow? Sporadic? All over the place? Does it vary depending on where we are or what we’re doing?

For instance, is it slow in the morning upon rising and then high-paced in the car or on the job? Or is it high-paced as soon as we open our eyes in the morning, continuing until mid-afternoon when all we want to do is close our eyes for just a few minutes, only to speed up again for the drive home or out doing errands.

With coloring this month’s mandala, we want to re-connect with our own natural rhythm, becoming aware of our cadence…striving for a slow and steady pace both internally and externally. Know that we can be the fastest nascar driver on the planet and still maintain a slow and steady internal rhythm.

When our cadence is sporadic, our breathing becomes shallow, our heart rate and thinking race at 100+ miles per hour, throwing us out of whack. That’s when we have accidents, lose things, forget things, and have jumbled thought patterns. Ever come into contact with someone like that? They lack any clear thinking and usually want us to join in their latest crisis. And all we want to do is just tell them to calm down and breathe. On the reverse, how often have we been told by others to do the very same thing?

The more we can maintain a slow and steady cadence in our breathing, our heart rate, our actions, and our thinking, the more focused and calmer we become. We create a more open channel to our creativity and inner guidance.

So for this month, let’s create a cadence that supports a slow and steady rhythm both internally and externally, allowing us to maintain a peaceful cadence regardless of what’s going on around us.

Ponder this while coloring the July 2014 Mandala of the Month.

Happy Coloring!
